A Call to Humility and Prayer
Date: August 26, 2024 Host: Jim Schneider Guest: David Smith MP3 | Order
Jim opened up with historic words from President Abraham Lincoln in an 1863 proclamation. It reads like this:
“We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven; we have been preserved these many years in peace and prosperity; we have grown in numbers, wealth and power as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God.”
Joining Jim to discuss this issue while providing a biblical solution was David Smith. David is executive director of Illinois Family Institute and Illinois Family Action. David has 30 years of experience in public policy and grass-roots activism, addressing issues such as the sanctity of life, natural marriage, broadcast decency, sex education, marijuana, gambling, abortion, homosexuality, tax policy, drug decriminalization and pornography.
David noted that since Abraham Lincoln communicated that America had forgotten God, where are we now? We’re perhaps not forgetting him. Instead we’re shaking our fist in his face and saying, “You’re not telling us what to do!” In response, he described his campaign to call America to humility and prayer, appealing to God for his mercy.
If you believe, as David does, that we’re living in “Babylon” and that we need to engage in prayer, review this edition of Crosstalk where you’ll find out more about his September campaign and how you and your church can get involved.
