Jim opened up with historic words from President Abraham Lincoln in an 1863 proclamation. It reads like this:
“We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven; we have been preserved these many years in peace and prosperity; we have grown in numbers, wealth and power as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God.”
Joining Jim to discuss this issue while providing a biblical solution was David Smith. David is executive director of Illinois Family Institute and Illinois Family Action. David has 30 years of experience in public policy and grass-roots activism, addressing issues such as the sanctity of life, natural marriage, broadcast decency, sex education, marijuana, gambling, abortion, homosexuality, tax policy, drug decriminalization and pornography.
David noted that since Abraham Lincoln communicated that America had forgotten God, where are we now? We’re perhaps not forgetting him. Instead we’re shaking our fist in his face and saying, “You’re not telling us what to do!” In response, he described his campaign to call America to humility and prayer, appealing to God for his mercy.

–Outside the Chicago convention center, former presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy was told that he had to have a certain kind of opinion for him to be present.
–Chris Cuomo calls out the control of the elite over the entire process on the floor of the Democratic convention.
–In one of several audio clips, V.P. Kamala Harris makes her case, “for the people.”
–Harris describes her desire to provide America with an opportunity economy that ends the housing shortage and protects Social Security and Medicare.
–Harris believes America can’t be prosperous unless Americans are fully allowed to make their own decisions about their lives, particularly on matters of “heart and home.”
–The Bureau of Labor revised down its wildly inflated job numbers for the year through the month of March.
–The three-committee impeachment inquiry of the House released a report earlier this week finding that President Biden has “engaged in impeachable conduct,” including an “abuse of power” when he was vice-president and “obstruction of justice” as president to cover his family’s “global influence peddling racket” to defraud the U.S.
–Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose sent the names of nearly 600 non-citizens who registered to vote to Attorney General Dave Yost for possible prosecution. Of those nearly 600 non-citizens, LaRose indicated that 138 appear to have voted in an election in Ohio when federal records showed they weren’t legal citizens.

Randy began the broadcast with some historical background on presidential elections, particularly in the days when campaigns were not “made for TV” but rather, were often battled through the newspapers. He also reminded listeners not to forget about the Senate seats, House seats and state legislature seats up for grabs. Remember, it was state legislatures that closed churches during COVID, so it’s important to be engaged with those elections as well.
Governor Tim Walz accepted the nomination for Vice President of the U.S. last evening. Dr. Schmidt commented on the problems that are inherent in what the governor said as he spoke about the things he accomplished in Minnesota, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg who claims Republicans are selling “darkness”, Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx refusing to prosecute protesters and Oprah Winfrey choosing emotion over substance.

Tony Kinnett is an investigative columnist with the Daily Signal and a former award-winning teacher and administrator. He served in the area of education policy for the Governor Scott Walker administration and regularly appears on national news platforms. He is also a radio host in Indianapolis.
Tony kicked things off with commentary from Chicago as he brought listeners a better picture as to what’s really occurring at the convention vs. what he referred to as social media hubbub.
He described how the perimeter was pierced and there’s been chaos at particular times and he’s not sure that it will calm down before the end of the week. What surprised him the most is that the Chicago police aren’t coddling protesters, many of whom have been pro-Palestinian. As of broadcast time, accurate arrest numbers were not available.
Tony described the convention as a pep rally whose strategy, “…is to amp up everyone in the Democratic base on good vibes and feelings while trying to portray a unity message as well as an outsider candidate message.” Overall, between the two conventions he sees a far greater discipline on the Republican side and a far greater emotionalism on the Democrat side that hasn’t been targeted in a specific point of usefulness.
Dr. Schmidt then followed with comments that focused on audio clips from Michelle Obama’s speech dealing with hope and unity. In one clip she referred to the opposition as she mentioned the banning of books, in-vitro fertilization, shutting down the Department of Education, supposedly demonizing children for who they are and other points that as Dr. Schmidt noted simply didn’t communicate a unifying message. As a contrast, he listed topics that should be addressed like energy independence, inflation and the war in Ukraine. Instead, there’s silence on those issues.
