MOHNTON, Pa. – The Berks Book Bonanza kicked off its annual used-book sale Friday.
It comes after a two-year hiatus and venue change, meaning volunteers had only two months to collect the books, puzzles, DVDs and more.
Organizers say despite the smaller time frame, around 100,000 thousand items are still up for sale at this year’s event.
The response from booklovers was evident as they came out in droves on the first day of the event, with some even driving five hours to get to the sale.
Despite the good turnout, organizers say there’s still plenty of items to go around.
“We’re doing phenomenally well. But we have lots more coming out so if you haven’t come yet, don’t think you’ve missed out on it. Because the boxes are being loaded. There’s new stuff coming out all the time,” said Judy Ellsworth with Berks Book Bonanza.
The sale, which runs through Sunday, takes place at Berks County’s South Campus building at 400 East Wyomissing Ave. in Mohnton.
Organizers are also asking attendees to be patient on their way to the sale, as a bridge closure is causing detours in the area.
Check the Book Bonanza website for alternate routes.
