The Killer’s Game (R, 104 minutes) stars former wrestler turned actor, Dave Bautista, who plays a hitman based in Budapest. He has only taken death contracts on criminals and never attacked civilians.
He gets a medical condition that is misdiagnosed as a miserably fatal disease. In the meantime, he has fallen in love with a ballet dancer, played by Sofia Boutella. To end his life without any suffering, he hires someone to kill him so his life insurance policy will pay off. There is a poignantly sad scene where he attempts to break up with his girl friend to protect her from what is supposed to happen.
Bautista belatedly learns that he is going to live and tries to cancel the contract on his life, but it is too late. The rest of the movie is a series of battles with hordes of hit men and hit women who want to collect the big bounty for killing Bautista. The cast also includes Ben Kingsley who plays a mentor for Bautista, and Ms. Pom Klementief who plays an opposing antagonist.
If you have liked the John Wick movies, this two star rated film is definitely for you.
