Pompey fans on social media have been reacting to news that both John Mousinho and Rich Hughes have agreed extensions to their existing long-term Fratton Park contracts.
Head coach Mousinho guided the Blues back to the Championship during his first full season in charge. Meanwhile, it was sporting director Hughes who laid the foundations for that success with some impressive recruitment since his move from Forest Green Rovers in 2022.
Pompey will hope the partnership continues to reap rewards, especially this season as the Blues adjust to life in the second tier of English football.
And just like the power-brokers inside Fratton Park, it appears that the vast majority of the Pompey fan base are in agreement that the future looks better with both Mousinho and Hughes at the helm.
@PORTSMOUTHFCLEE: I was totally wrong about these two, and for that I held my hands up and apologised! This is fantastic business by the club.
@daniel_son79: More compo when they get approached! Otherwise great news.
@CapiTweets: Love it. Stability can be such an important factor when building something! Progresses so far under them already – hopefully this continues.
@phil72pfc: Not even three points tomorrow could top this news.
@garethnorton1: Signings of the summer them two. Outstanding news. Well done #Pompey.
@DunnDamian57953: So just wondering, if we get relegated, which we now are favourites, will they stay or will fans call for heads? I’m guessing some will. I just don’t get it for me the timing’s wrong.
@Limmy05: Great news …. Loving the long term approach.
@PompeyChimes90: Well done Pompey, absolutely fantastic stuff!
@DanielE64141682: It’s smart timing. Results haven’t been the best but had a ridiculous run of games but will show the squad that they are backed!
@Joshuajake0311: Very strange timing, I presume they would have started negotiations in the summer tho so that would make more sense. Bit worried about how connected we have made them both now tho. Hughes has no right to ever sack Mousinho now, which isn’t really the position you want to be in.
@lukeatiyah: Good move. Both men absolutely vital to success of the club.
@jwldopp: Brilliant news, and richly deserved for a job well done.
@pompeyrod: Best signings to date, bravo.
@StevenLeaver: Great news! Both John and Rich really do deserve the Very Best, considering what they have achieved for @Pompey.
@olliejoell1606: I wonder how much clubs would have to pay us now if they wanted to sign mous/hughes?
