NEW TOWN, N.D. (KMOT) – The results are in for this year’s MHA Nation Tribal Business Council primary elections. Spots for three of the six tribal segments were up for grabs. In two of the segments, incumbents won a majority vote in the primary and were automatically reelected.
In the New Town / Little Shell segment, Monica Mayer won, receiving nearly 400 votes.
Fred Fox secured a majority vote to be reelected for the White Shield segment, with more than 290 votes.
No one received a majority vote for the Mandaree segment, so the top two finishers advance to the general election. They are former tribal chairman Tex Hall, and incumbent Gladys Turner-Lone Fight.
The runoff is the same day as the statewide elections, Nov. 5.
