Muscat: Stretching from Dhalkut in the west to Mirbat in the east, the season will continue until December 21, bringing moderate weather, blooming flowers, and cool breezes.
Following the humid autumn rains, Sarb transforms Dhofar into a picturesque wonderland. The region’s mountains, valleys, and plains come alive with greenery, while the sun shines brightly and the sea’s waves gently lap the coast. The season also positively affects the economy, as an influx of visitors arrives to experience the natural beauty and engage in local activities. For farmers, fishermen, and livestock breeders, Sarb marks a season of bounty, with crops such as corn and local beans flourishing, and fish like sharka, kanaad, and sardines in abundance.
Adding to the charm, camel herders practice the traditional grazing of “Khateel Al-Ibil,” moving their herds to lush pastures with songs and poetic verses. Meanwhile, Dhofar’s unique products like honey, butter, and local ghee reach their peak during this season, making it a time of rich harvests.
Tourism is booming during Sarb, with destinations in Dhofar’s mountainous areas drawing visitors with their stunning scenery and moderate climate. To further promote the season, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism organized joint events with Saudi tourism companies and media as part of the “Marhaba Dhofar” initiative, bringing attention to the region’s scenic beauty.
Dhofar’s sporting and cultural events are also set to entertain. The Dhofar Municipality Championship “Ironman 70.3,” the “Salalah Half Marathon,” and the “She Runs Iron Child” are just some of the exciting activities happening this October. Additionally, the Dhofar International Theater Festival will bring together local and international talent to celebrate the arts.
