WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Warner Robins is the first city in the state to host a special town hall meeting hosted by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The event, held Tuesday, brought together the local small business community to highlight both local and federal resources available to entrepreneurs.
The town hall meeting, called “The Small Business Takeoff Event,” provided information and resources to help small business owners get to the next level.
Allen Thomas, the Regional Administrator at SBA, spoke about what is needed to get your business off the ground.
“To launch a business, you need access to capital,” he said .”You don’t need an MBA. You just need the willingness to reach out to the SBA and your local mayor’s office.”
Mayor LaRhonda Patrick expressed strong support for small businesses in Warner Robins.
“Here in Warner Robins, we are huge supporters of small business,” she said. “We want to see more come. The ones that are coming, they are thriving. They’re continuing to ask for the licenses. They’re continuing to get new properties, get their storefronts.”
Daphne Register, owner of Young Chefs Academy and a marketing firm, shared her success story, crediting her business’s growth to resources provided by organizations like SBA and SCORE Middle Georgia.
“You meet new people, you learn new things that you can incorporate into your business that you’re doing now,” she said. “So there’s never a time where you say, ‘OK, I’ve learned. I have enough.’”
Small business owners interested in accessing resources to start or grow their businesses are encouraged to reach out to the City of Warner Robins’ Office of Community Economic Development and visit SBA.gov for more information.
