TRAVERSE CITY — Downtown Traverse City Association is starting a new Haunts and Harvest Window Walk from Oct. 18-31.

Single MOMM is getting $14,290 for energy-efficient LED lighting in its new facility.
The Presbyterian Church obtained $80,000 for carbon neutral updates to its building.

Rail consultant chosen
TRAVERSE CITY — Groundwork Center for Resilient Communities and Cadillac/Wexford Transit Authority (WexExpress) have selected WSP, an engineering and professional services firm, to assist with phase two of the Michigan North-South Passenger Rail Project.
This will include evaluating railroad track conditions, examining where the new service would operate, conducting financial analyses, collecting community input and more. WSP is expected to conclude its assessment by the end of 2025.
Michigan groups recognized
LANSING — Michigan Rehabilitation Services honored 14 residents with disabilities and three businesses during the MRS Champion Awards ceremony. The event was part of National Disability Employment Awareness Month in October.
eFulfillment Service, Inc. in Traverse City was recognized for “working in innovative ways with MRS and its customers,” according to a release.
Priority Health rated
GRAND RAPIDS — Priority Health was recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance.
In the NCQA’s 2024 Medicare Health Plan Ratings, Priority Health’s PPO and HMO/POS plans received 4.5 stars. In the NCQA’s Commercial Health Plan Ratings, Priority Health obtained 4.5 stars for its HMO/POS plan and four stars for its PPO plan. The Michigan-based health insurer also was recognized for its Medicaid health plan.
Building permit study
NEW YORK — SmartAsset recently examined building permits in Michigan. The study looks at the number of new building permits per 1,000 homes in the state.
Several northern Michigan counties are in the top 10. Leelanau County comes in No. 2 with 12.67 new building permits. Grand Traverse County is No. 3 for 11.74 new permits and Benzie County is ranked fifth with 10.10 permits. For more results, visit https://tinyurl.com/474cdh8v.
