One of the standout features for me is our deep connection to Singapore’s rich artistic heritage through our collection of over 3,400 original pieces, all displayed prominently throughout the hotel’s public spaces and guest rooms.
Two personal favourites are by local artists – Kites by Tan Chin Chin and Underwater by Goh Beng Kwan. Kites is a striking diptych that features traditional fabrics and textiles from Singapore’s four main ethnic groups.
It visually symbolises the harmony of Singapore’s multicultural identity through its vibrant colours and intricate patterns, offering guests a window into the nation’s rich cultural tapestry.
Goh Beng Kwan, an esteemed local artist who has received Singapore’s highest cultural accolade, the Cultural Medallion—a prestigious award given to individuals who have significantly contributed to the country’s artistic development—created Underwater, which anchors our reception.
A pioneer of Singapore’s modern art scene, Goh celebrated his 85th birthday with us in a special exhibition titled #GBK85 at the property. The piece immerses viewers in a mesmerising underwater world, bringing to life the aquatic surroundings of Singapore. It’s deeply personal, not just to Goh, but to us as a property that celebrates local artistry.

Our rooms and suites reflect the perfect blend of contemporary design with Asian influences, thanks to the work of acclaimed designer Jaya Ibrahim. With natural materials like jute framing the breathtaking views of Marina Bay, and Peranakan-inspired patterns subtly embedded in the carpets, every detail has been crafted to provide both comfort and a sense of place.
Flexible-use furniture, including resort-style daybeds and movable tables, allows for seamless transitions between work and relaxation. The overall aesthetic is clean and elegant, yet grounded in the rich cultural heritage of Singapore.
Tell us about the fantastic food and beverage on offer, which is some of the best in the area.
Oscar’s is a vibrant all-day dining destination, offering an eclectic mix of local and international cuisines. One of the highlights is our live stations, which include a noodle bar featuring authentic Singapore Laksa, and a tandoori corner. These interactive stations, paired with a variety of local specialities, make Oscar’s a favourite for both hotel guests and locals, catering to business gatherings and family celebrations alike.
At Golden Peony, we’ve revived Hong Kong Cantonese heritage dishes, under the talented hands of Executive Chinese Chef Ku Keung. His refined approach to these classics provides an elevated yet comforting dining experience.
The Lobby Lounge is known for its thematic afternoon teas, with menus that change seasonally, transporting our guests to different experiences throughout the year. For a more laid-back option, The Terrace offers hearty sandwiches and snacks during the day, perfect for the business crowd, and transforms in the evening into a gin lover’s haven with an extensive selection of artisanal gin and tonic combinations.

Marina Bay is rich in cultural and entertainment options. I always recommend that guests explore nearby iconic landmarks like Gardens by the Bay or catch a performance at The Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay.
For those who appreciate art, a visit to the National Gallery Singapore is a must for discovering Southeast Asian art while appreciating its unique architecture. Of course, simply strolling through the Marina Bay waterfront, taking in the architecture and public art installations, is an experience in itself.
