Sarah J Maas is one of the biggest authors online at the minute, with her series A Court of Thorns and Roses (or ACOTAR) being the source material for hours of reels and TikToks across Instagram and TikTok. It’s considered something of a ‘must read’ but there are another two series under her belt that are said to be filled with nods to her cult favourite series.
Before ACOTAR was on shelves, Maas was wildly popular for Throne of Glass. The 8-book series follows Celaena Sardothien, an 18-year-old girl who has been locked up serving a life-sentence as a result of being caught working as a trained assassin. She’s offered her freedom if she’s willing to represent the prince in a to-the-death tournament.
Of course it’s more than meets the eye with the best selling fantasy author. You can expect scheming, magic and Easter eggs nodding to her other series. Amazon are selling the full series, with matching covers for £34.72, which is over a £30 saving and also means you don’t have to worry about different editions ruining your shelves.

It’s brought in an average of 4.7 out of 5 across 45,445 global ratings. One shopper said: “I loved the Court of Thorn and Roses series, and got interested in this author. I’m loving reading this new series. The characters are interesting and relatable. The plot is gripping and it’s hard not to read them all in one go. I’m trying to ration them but it’s very hard! The books themselves are beautiful and arrived in great condition with beautiful covers.”
A second penned: “I have never in all my life read anything as incomparable to this. It is without a doubt the most magnificent world I have ever had the privilege to glimpse into. I have thought of nothing else from the moment I read that very first page and I devoured this entire set in a rate that was both not fast enough and yet also too fast. I will even be purchasing physical copies just so I can give this dear author more money!
“I am honoured to have read these utterly wonderful, oh so beyond wonderful stories that she has woven like the great tapestry we all wish we could hang on our walls (iykyk). It’s just so rich with detail after glorious detail, a truly magnificent world and I shall adore it forever and a day, tucked into my heart for eternity, savoured by soul and settled into my very bones. It’s just one of a kind and so precious to me. Thank you SJM, you too are a goddess that I’m so thankful is still amongst our land and I shall forever be grateful for the day that you first picked up a pen.”
A third said: “This story is amazing! I absolutely love how these books just flow from one book into the next! I highly recommend. Books are gorgeous as well!”
Some readers who were drawn in by the ‘spice’ of ACOTAR may have been disappointed by the more innocent nature of the first few books although they can rest assured it does heat up. One said: “I found that I wasn’t really reaching for the first few books but as the series progressed so did my obsession with with it . The series only starts to get spicy in very last couple books.”
Maas also released a new series called Crescent City which are rumoured to nod to the beloved worlds of both ACOTAR and Throne of Glass. These are good choices for fans of Rebecca Yarros’ hit series Fourth Wing or
You can also get the Throne of Glass box set on The Works but it does cost more at £55, Amazon is the best price for it that we’ve seen.
