Omnia Strategy Group’s newly released 2025 Technology Impact Report reveals a substantial gap between technological ambitions and organisational readiness.
Omnia Strategy Group conducted a survey involving 375 business leaders, technology leaders, and policymakers across various industries in the United States. The findings highlight the challenges that arise from the misalignment between the rapid advancements in technology and the preparedness of organisations to handle these changes.
The report details how the transformation of digital infrastructure is being impacted as current and emerging technologies converge. This study also delves into the challenges of scalability, integration, and security that stem from this readiness gap. It explores how this technological shift could affect geopolitics, economics, and human agency, urging organisations to address these challenges to foster continued innovation and collaboration.
Jessica Marie, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Omnia Strategy Group, stated the urgency of bridging this readiness gap. “I’ve spent over a decade watching technology reshape our world, often faster than we can adapt,” she said.
“We’re standing at a critical juncture where our technological ambitions and our readiness to implement them are misaligned. We have a responsibility to bridge this divide. This isn’t abstract futurism; it’s about making informed decisions today that will shape our collective tomorrow.
“I urge every decision-maker to examine these findings, challenge their assumptions, and reimagine their strategies. It’s crucial that our infrastructure can accelerate innovation, or we risk stifling the very progress we’re striving to achieve.”
The report indicates that 86% of respondents believe Artificial Intelligence (AI) will significantly impact global infrastructure in the coming decade. Furthermore, 74% believe AI will play a crucial role in addressing global challenges, such as climate change and pandemics, with a potential to foster international cooperation. Additionally, 58% regard APIs as a critical part of infrastructure for enabling the real-time exchange and communication between software systems.
However, infrastructure readiness appears lacking. Only 28% of respondents feel current data centres are adequately equipped to manage the increasing computational demands posed by AI. The perceived challenges include ensuring data security and privacy (51%), integrating AI and machine learning workloads (46%), and managing hybrid and multi-cloud environments (41%). Despite recognising the critical role of APIs, just 31% of respondents believe their organisations are fully prepared to handle potential disruptions.
Management, security, and governance gaps are evident, with 52% of respondents highlighting AI-specific security measures as the most pressing issue in current API management platforms. Other significant concerns include insufficient data privacy and compliance (48%), a lack of automated API generation for AI models (46%), and inadequate cross-platform compatibility (41%). Governance challenges are underscored by 42% of respondents identifying a balance between API openness and data protection as critical.
Geopolitically, 79% of respondents perceive AI as having the most significant impact over the next decade, positioning it as a determinative factor in global competition. A substantial 84% ascertain that control over digital infrastructure is vital for shaping geopolitical influence, underscoring the evolving role of technology in international power dynamics.
Jessica Marie further emphasised the importance for organisations to assess the alignment between their technological capabilities and ambitions. “As organisations push toward ambitious goals, it’s critical to take a step back and assess whether their technological capabilities are truly aligned with those ambitions,” she noted. “This includes evaluating their capacity and readiness to meet the future needs of their customers. By addressing any gaps now, leaders can ensure they are building a strong foundation to achieve both near-term objectives and long-term success.”
The report draws from a survey of U.S.-based professionals spanning sectors such as technology, finance, healthcare, and government, from startups to large enterprises, to provide comprehensive insights into the current state of technology readiness.
