The city of Alhambra, California has joined the book vending machine movement, installing a 24/7 machine at one of the city’s most popular parks, according to a CBS News report.
The book vending machine contains over 200 books, free to check out to anyone with a library card. The books vary in genre, language and target audience age.
“This is a wonderful step forward in ensuring our community has access to educational and recreational resources, no matter their schedules,” Alhambra Councilwoman Adele Andrade-Stadler told the news outlet. “By providing these 24/7 services at Emery Park, we’re helping families connect, learn and grow together.
The book vending machine also features a number of lockers that will store book holds and other requested items for patrons to pick up at their leisure.
