Muscat: Dr. Saeed Al Batouti, Economic Advisor at the UNTO and a member of the European Travel Commission, hailed Oman’s unique appeal in a statement to the Oman News Agency. He emphasized the country’s wide range of attractions, from its stunning geological formations to its rich cultural heritage, making it a top choice for tourists from diverse markets.
Dr. Al Batouti pointed out that Oman is not only home to breathtaking natural sites but also boasts an impressive array of historical, cultural, and archaeological wonders. He further added that the country’s distinct blend of nature, culture, and modern development forms the foundation of its thriving tourism industry.
He highlighted Oman’s unique rock formations, exposed layers of igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks, which attract earth science enthusiasts from around the globe. The deserts, valleys, and mountains offer rare wildlife and nature reserves, creating a haven for eco-tourism.
In addition to its natural beauty, Oman’s reputation in global tourism is bolstered by its political stability and strategic location. However, Dr. Al Batouti stressed the need for further investment in the sector. He called for targeted marketing campaigns, based on scientific data, to attract tourists from different markets and urged for improved coordination between tour operators, airlines, and local agents.
He also underscored the importance of expanding hotel capacity and enhancing tourism services, while ensuring that Oman continues to uphold its sustainability principles by preserving local customs, traditions, and communities.
With its investment-friendly climate and support for foreign investors, Oman’s tourism sector is poised for growth. According to Dr. Al Batouti, the global tourism market is projected to grow by 5.1 percent annually, with Oman well-positioned to benefit from this boom, reaching an estimated RO 5.96 billion (15.5 trillion US dollars) by 2033.
