Anupama was born in New Delhi. Her father, KR Venugopal, is IAS officer. Anupama completed her schooling in Hyderabad and earned her graduation degree in architect from Manipal University. She chose the homemaker role and devoted herself to raising their three kids. Interestingly, her father and Satya’s father were together in IAS.
Anupama encountered difficulties with immigration, while Satya sacrificed his green card to smooth the process for her, allowing Anupama to enter the United States under an H-1B visa.

Satya Nadella and Anupama faced a heartbreaking tragedy when their 26-year-old son died in 2022. Zain Nadella was suffering with cerebral palsy.
This tragedy left a great impact on Anupama. She later started participating in Seattle Children’s Hospital’s initiatives to help health of children. She also started philanthropy works and donated Rs 2 crore for the betterment of women and farmers of Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, Anupama donated Rs 2 crore to PM’s relief fund to help the needy.
