There was a huge shout out to Greystones author and one of the team at Halfway Up the Stairs bookshop, Sarah Webb, who “as everyone who knows her knows, has boundless energy and ideas, and is one of the most passionate advocate for children’s books out there”, the team at the shop said after the hugely successful first Jumping Off The Page Children’s Comic Book Festival.
The idea for the festival – which closed at the Whale Theatre on Saturday, October 5, with authors Sarah Bowie, Neill Cameron, Aoife Dooley, Alan Nolan and Karen Harte sharing their expertise, wit and wisdom – “came from her creative brain”, the gang of true bookworms added, and remarked how she had worked tirelessly to programme and execute the inaugural festival “that brought joy to both children and parents alike”. Roll on next year!
