GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Greenville County Schools announced they will resume hosting book fairs after pausing the event at the beginning of the school year.
In August 2024, the district announced it was pausing school-sponsored book fairs due to new requirements from the State Board of Education.
The district said they have determined a process that complies with SC Regulation 43-170 and maintaining a manageable process for staff.
Now, vendors must sign a form acknowleding they have reviewed and will comply with SC Regulation 43-170 and will provide schools with a list of books that may be in the book fair at least four weeks in advance, the district said.
Media specialists will review and vet the books, and the list will be shared with parents and guardians ahead of time for review. Students will need a signed permission form to attend the book fair.
School officials said multiple book vendors have already agreed to the process, and additional vendros will be added.
The book fairs will resume in January 2025.
