He became a household name thanks to incredible action movies including the Taken franchise, and now fans are debating what their all time favorite Liam Neeson movie is.
The Irish actor’s followers took to social media to share their views – and some were quite surprising. Instead of the action packed, rip-roaring thrillers like Taken, some fans were full of praise for Liam Neeson’s little-known films.
They singled out 1996 Warner Bros historical drama Michael Collins. The biographical film about Michael Collins, a leading figure in early 20th Century Irish struggle for independence against Britain.
The film stars a younger Liam, who rocks a longer ‘curtains’ hair-do, alongside a star-studded cast including Aidan Quinn, Stephen Rea, Alan Rickman and Julia Roberts. Fans had plenty to say about it on social media site Reddit.
One said: “I love Liam and his skills to make a really intense scene into a hilarious one instantly. But the movie that made me love him so much is Michael Collins, both him and Alan Rickman had absolutely great performances. No other movie of his comes close to this.”
Another, who thought Battleship was his best movie, added: “In all seriousness, I love Michael Collins. Liam Neeson and Alan Rickman were both fantastic.”
A third chimed in: “I love how lively his portrait of Michael Collins was. Seriousness around national matter aside, he was so fun, laid back and energetic in daily life. i was like awww when he pushed his friend down the bed, wrestled him for a lady. i love to see Liam Neeson play a fun character like that.”
Meanwhile One of Liam Neeson’s lesser-noticed recent action flicks is making a splash with Netflix viewers. The 2019 release, Cold Pursuit, features Neeson alongside Jurassic Park’s Laura Dern.
A remake of the Norwegian film from 2014, In Order of Disappearance, it stars the Irishman as a revenge-seeking snowplow operator whose son is killed by drug traffickers.
