WILLIAMSBURG—Busch Bus is a locally owned and operated shuttle service that helps both visitors and locals get to various locations around Williamsburg.
Owner Chris Alper originally intended for the business to give tours around the historic triangle after he had been suggested the idea a few times previously.
Working in hospitality and managing properties, many guests would ask Alper about local tours. After doing some research, he was surprised to find there weren’t many offered and decided to give it a shot.
After starting Busch Bus, Alper did not quite have the level of traction he was hoping for as a touring company but had many requests for shuttle services.
And, so the business decided to transition to that.
Alper says his experience so far in running the business has led him to realize just how inquisitive people are about the area.
One of company’s main driving points is customer service. It important to Alper to interact with people and provide them with an enjoyable experience.
“Yeah we’re just doing this one thing over at Busch Gardens or Colonial Williamsburg or an airport run, but we’re giving people so much more information and allowing them to have an experience on such a simple pleasure— just going on a ride. But we’re giving them so much more than that and sparking the interest for people to come back,” says Alper. “I think that’s been the biggest eye-opener.”
“Being able to provide a service to all of our guests within the area coming to visit we’re just happy to take them to where they want to be and put a smile on their face and make sure that everyone is enjoying this town as much as we do,” Alper added.
It is noted that the shuttle does not currently have a full ADA wheelchair lift. However, if guests can use three steps, the buses have a cargo space where guests can store mobility aid equipment.
The shuttle is able to be booked for $10 a passenger/round trip and travels to not only Busch Gardens but also Colonial Williamsburg and William & Mary primarily.
The shuttle begins operations an hour prior to Busch Gardens opening till an hour after it closes. Alper states the bus takes stops to and from Colonial Williamsburg during its open hours.
