As part of the implementation of the national project “Tourism and the Hospitality Industry”, the Russian Government, together with the regions, is actively developing the tourist infrastructure, opening new national routes and making travel around the country even more exciting and comfortable. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko.
“The development of tourism infrastructure is a complex task that the Government is solving on behalf of President Vladimir Putin. Thanks to the national project “Tourism and the hospitality industry” we are increasing the accessibility of recreation for Russians and creating new routes. Traveling in Russia is safe, affordable and comfortable. Today, 56 national routes unite 50 subjects, allowing travelers to see interesting sights of our country. Thus, we are popularizing domestic tourism, revealing the potential of the regions,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.
Dmitry Chernyshenko added that national routes run in all federal districts, and the leader is the North-West, where 16 routes have received the status of “national”.
Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov spoke about the advantages of new national tourist routes.
“National tourist routes are the result of the work of regional teams, a unique and ready—made tourist product. At the heart of each route is a verified range of tourist services that allow travelers to immerse themselves in the history and culture of the territory in a short time, to learn about its ethnographic and gastronomic features. For the regions, this is not only an opportunity to declare themselves, but also an additional tool for promoting and attracting tourists, as well as the opportunity to receive funds from a national project for infrastructure improvement. For travelers, it is a guarantee of high quality, thoughtfulness and often great accessibility of the trip,” he said Maxim Reshetnikov.
The Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) noted that the main task of such routes is to ensure that tourists are absolutely confident in their comfort and optimal price-quality ratio while traveling around the country.
“The assignment of the status of a national tourist route is a sign of quality, a guarantee of its compliance with the highest requirements formulated in the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation. Each national tourist route has its own specifics, and a tourist can choose the most interesting destination for himself. All NTMs are thought out logically, have ready-made recommendations where to stay and stay, are safe and comfortable. Choosing a trip along each route, a tourist will be able to either use the services of tour operators, or go on their own. The leader in the number of national tourist routes is the Leningrad region, where the routes “History and secrets of medieval Vyborg” have been developed, as well as interregional routes: The “Gosudaryova Doroga”, which unites the sights of the Moscow, Tver, Leningrad and Novgorod regions, and the “Ladoga Energy”, passing through the Leningrad Region and Karelia and received a new status in October.
