Since becoming the UFC light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira has catapulted himself into superstardom, becoming the promotion’s biggest active star by a long way.
Despite having only been in the UFC for three years, Alex Pereira has become the biggest star in combat sports, saving the UFC on multiple occasions this year and becoming a favorite amongst the fans.
Earlier this month, ‘Poatan’ broke the UFC record for the least amount of days between three title defenses, which was previously held by Ronda Rousey.
Alex Pereira set to make his acting debut in Hollywood film
Continuing to grow as a personality inside and outside of the cage, the 37-year-old looks to be set to join an elite group of fighters to have made their debut in the acting world.
Only a few fighters have been considered big enough stars to be able to put down the gloves and get in front of the cameras in Hollywood and Pereira looks to be the next to do just that.
Conor McGregor starred alongside Jake Gyllenhaal in the remake of Road House which was released earlier this year. Other fighters like Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone, Michael Bisping, Rampage Jackson, and Kamaru Usman have also played roles in big movies.
The Hollywood Reporter reported this past Thursday that Pereira will be making his acting debut in a film called ‘Onslaught’, directed by Adam Wingard. Wingard has directed films like Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, Death Note, and many more.
The film is described as a ‘gonzo action horror thriller’ and it will also star lead actress, Adria Arjona. ‘Poatan’ is reported to play the role of ‘The Butcher’.
Alex Pereira and Jon Jones tease potential fight following a FaceTime call
After being the most active champion in the sport this year, Pereira will likely be putting a hold on his UFC career if he does in fact star in ‘Onslaught’, however, this past Thursday, he and Jon Jones hinted at something big.

The two previously met at UFC 306 this past September, sparking talks online that they discussed a possible future fight. Despite that, Jones came out shortly after and admitted that they’d agreed to train with each other.
With the two seemingly striking up some kind of friendship, they enjoyed a FaceTime call together in which they have claimed ‘Even Dana White would be curious of what we talked about’.
White has been open to the idea of a superfight between Pereira and Jones, however, ‘Bones’ hinted that his UFC 309 fight against Stipe Miocic will be his last and if it isn’t, he will likely have to unify the heavyweight title against Tom Aspinall instead of fighting Pereira.
