Former Magsasaka party-list Rep. Argel Joseph Cabatbat claimed that a Chinese national used fake documents to make it appear that he is a Filipino and set up a mining business in the country.
In a Facebook post, Cabatbat said that in 2014, he handled a case against a billionaire engaged in the mining business.
While claiming to be Filipino, Cabatbat said he “cannot speak Tagalog or English, but is very fluent in Chinese.”
“I personally dug up documents and discovered that he was able to obtain a Filipino passport by filing a late registration of birth. He also claimed that he was baptized in a church in Quezon City a few months after his birth,” Cabatbat said.
The former lawmaker noted that the church, which was only recently constructed, issued a certification that “they baptized this mining company owner on the year when you can only see grass and trees in that portion near the House of Representatives.”
Cabatbat said the billionaire’s mining company is “responsible for destroying mountains, forests, siltations reaching the sea and other destructive mining in Palawan, Mindanao, and in other parts of the Philippines.”
“When my client asked why this company has no remorse in destroying our country, I replied: “HINDI KASI SIYA PILIPINO. WALA SIYANG PAKIALAM SA BANSA NATIN,” he said.
Cabatbat said the case he filed against the billionaire was dismissed. “Mahirap kalaban ang mayaman. He is still here; untouchable and debauched.”
“Whoever is responsible for the dismissal of the case, and whoever is responsible for defending this fake Filipino, watch the flooding happening in our country right now. KASALANAN NIYO YAN!”
In 2018, Cabatbat survived an ambush attempt along EDSA. He was able to kill one of his attackers, a former policeman.
