The Ministry of Tourism today, organised the dissemination ceremony of the 3rd ASEAN Public Toilet Competition Movement 2025-2026, under the chairmanship of Hor Sarun, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Tourism and with the participation of the Capital and Provincial Administration, the Department of Tourism, the Tourism Association, and all tour operators, with about 150 participants.
This workshop aims to promote the ASEAN Public Toilet Competition Movement, participation procedures, and evaluation mechanisms in line with ASEAN Public Toilet Standards.
The ASEAN Public Toilet Competition has already been organised twice, in 2019 at the ASEAN Tourism Forum held in Ha Long City, Vietnam, and in 2023 at the ASEAN Tourism Forum held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
For the 3rd ASEAN Public Toilet Competition, the ASEAN Secretariat has informed all member countries, especially the Ministry of Tourism, to select five outstanding toilets to win the ASEAN Public Toilet Award at the ASEAN Tourism Forum, which is scheduled to be held in Johor, Malaysia, in January next year.
The evaluation of the winners of the ASEAN public toilets is based on the ASEAN public toilet standards developed by the ASEAN Secretariat, including 4 key indicators and 83 criteria, equivalent to 90 points.
The four main indicators are, Design and Environmental Management System has 19 criteria equal to 21 points.
Amenities and Facilities have 21 criteria equal to 22 points Cleanliness has 27 criteria equal to 29 points and Safety with 16 criteria equal to 18 points.
Candidates who score 63 points or more (70% of the total 90 points) will win the ASEAN Public Toilet, which is valid for 2 years.
