Everyone has that one house they remember looking forward to on Halloween night.
For a lot of kids, it’s that house that gave away full-sized chocolate bars.
For Comics North Hidden Level Games owner Cal Abram, it’s the home of a lady who’d make butter-toffee popcorn balls every year.
“She lived way on the other end of town, and I’d get my parents to drop me off at her house first every year and I’d work my way home,” he said. “Kids remember it.”
In what has become an annual tradition, the Downtown Sudbury comic book shop is selling packets of comic books people can buy to give away to trick-or-treaters on Halloween night.
They’re selling 20 books for $15.
“It’s all for the kids,” Abram said, clarifying that they’re all kid-friendly.
In past years, some people have stocked up for future Halloween nights by buying as many as 100 comic books. Unlike most give-aways to trick-or-treaters, they don’t expire.
Like the butter-toffee popcorn ball house, Abram said he likes to think kids will remember the homes that gave away comic books on Halloween night.
