The Kudumbashree Mission’s ‘Kanas Jaga’ film festival of indigenous children kicked off at St. Teresa’s College in Kochi on Saturday (October 26). Local Self-Government Minister M.B. Rajesh inaugurated the event online.
The short films were made by children from areas where the Kudumbashree special tribal projects are being implemented. Film production, stories, and screenplays are created by children themselves, said a Kudumbashree Mission official.
The short films are being screened at three venues at St. Teresa’s College, with seminars held on Saturday covering topics such as ‘Cultural markers of indigenous life’, ‘Literature, cinema and media’, ‘Socio-economic challenges in the indigenous sector’, ‘Innovative survival strategies’, and ‘Protection of children’s right to education in indigenous regions. The festival will conclude on Sunday (October 27).
Kanas Jaga aims at making indigenous children excel in various fields according to their aptitude.
