JAISALMER: A French tourist, identified as Sylvie Jorji (53), died under mysterious circumstances at a hotel here on Friday night. Reports suggest that she was ill since last two days. She was rushed from the hotel to Jawahir Hospital in a critical condition, where dhe was declared dead.
According to inspector Sawai Singh, the exact cause of death will be determined after post-mortem examination is done by the medical board. Following the procedure, the body will be flown back to France. The French embassy has been informed about the incident.
Lorong, the deceased’s husband, said the couple had started their journey to India on Oct 22, with a group of around 40 people. Sylvie, who suffered from diabetes, had been struggling with health issues.
The couple reached Jaisalmer on Oct 25, after visiting Delhi, Bikaner, and Mandawa. Even during their stay at the hotel, Sylvie’s health remained poor, and she was under medical care. However, her condition worsened drastically, and she was rushed to the hospital.
Lorong and Sylvie Jorji had travelled from France to undertake a three-month journey across India. They had planned to leave for Jodhpur on Oct 26, after spending two days in Jaisalmer. Sylvie Jorji worked as a computer engineer in France while her husband, Lorong, is the managing director at a railway station. The couple have a son and a daughter.
