Jamshedpur, Oct 27: In a landmark decision that promises to ease the burden on parents, the Ministry of Education has initiated a partnership with an e-commerce company to make NCERT textbooks available for online purchase. This new system aims to eliminate the monopolistic practices often associated with private school operators, allowing parents and students to order textbooks directly from the comfort of their homes.
Under this initiative, NCERT’s comprehensive collection of approximately 364 books, covering various subjects in Hindi, English, and Urdu, will be accessible through an online platform at Maximum Retail Price (MRP). Previously, many schools imposed restrictions on book purchasing, often compelling parents to buy from specific vendors linked to the schools, which inflated costs and limited options.
With the introduction of this online ordering system, parents can now conveniently procure required textbooks, alleviating financial pressure and ensuring access to educational materials. This development aligns with the broader educational policy reforms aimed at improving accessibility and affordability in education, particularly as new NCERT books are set to be integrated from kindergarten through 12th grade.
