EAU CLAIRE (WQOW) – A local nonprofit is making sure kids continue to receive free books every month.
The Family Resource Center in Eau Claire just announced a $1.6 million dollar endowment fundraiser campaign. This would help continue their affiliation with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Program.
Families can sign up at the center, allowing kids ages 0 to 5 to receive a free book once a month through the mail. One parent, Rendi Campbell, said her kids feel like it’s Christmas every time they get a new book.
“It’s always exciting for the kids to be able to go out to the mailbox, have something specifically addressed to them, and get to unwrap their book,” said Campbell. “My kids, they’re different reading levels. My daughter is 12 and she loves to even read those books to her younger brothers. So it’s cool to get to see them connect in that way too.”
As apart of this fundraiser, the Pablo Foundation is gifting the nonprofit over $500,000. $50,000 of that will go towards the endowment. This donation keeps the program going through 2027.
However, the Family Resource Center is still looking for people to be on the endowment campaign to help find donors to continue to keep the program past 2027.

The Executive Director of the Family Resource Center says they have been able to deliver more than 37,000 books to children in Eau Claire County. Currently, there are over 2,200 kids registered for the program.
The Resource Center is also celebrating their 25th anniversary on November 9th from 9 am to 2 pm. There will be games, balloons, a bounce house, face patting, and raffle prizes. You can also sign up for the Dolley Parton Imagination Library Program as well.
