The Friends of the Library’s book sale was held on Oct. 25 and 26.
The gym at St. Joe’s was filled to the brim with books looking for a new reader.
It is the the Friends of the Library’s biggest fundraiser and chair Robi McKnight said the event was another success.
“Good weather brought a record turn out and people were very generous. All sales were by donation,” said McKnight. “This sale was the second year for the larger location, and people seem to appreciate easy parking and wide aisles. All the books (approx. 400 boxes) were able to be displayed.”
The net profit will be approx. $6,500 which is an increase from last year, and all of the money raised goes to the Friends of the Library.
All the money helps support the programs of the Smithers Library, Books for Babies, book purchases, and events held by the Smithers Library.
They had over 50 volunteers help to run this event, including workers from RBC, Friends of the Smithers Library, and more than a dozen kids from the Helping Club.
