WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Local authors and writers will be arriving in downtown Wilmington for the first ever Cape Fear Book Festival.
Organized by the New Hanover County Public Library and the Friends of the New Hanover County Public Library, the two-day event will showcase the work of local writers and help them reach a broader audience.
Community members are invited to purchase books by and speak with local authors.
“We are very excited to create an opportunity that allows us to celebrate the amazing writers we have in our community while also helping them on their publishing journey,” Librarian and event coordinator Christine Ingram said.
The festival begins Friday at the main branch of the library. From 5 to 8 p.m., there will be a Cover-to-Cover Book Sale. More than 30 local authors will be set up on the third floor of the library to showcase a variety of books for readers of all ages.
From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, the WriteOn! conference will be held at the Downtown Public Library. This event features numerous workshops to help writers understand how to navigate publishing, promotion and the literary marketplace. The event will have a keynote presentation from New York Times best-selling novelist and North Carolina native Wiley Cash.
The festival ends with the Happily Ever Afterparty at Front Street Brewery from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday.
The Cape Fear Book Festival will be held Nov. 22-23. Authors who would like to sign up as a vendor can click here. If you would like more information on the workshops being offered or register, click here.
