Hugh Grant‘s new horror movie Heretic has landed a strong Rotten Tomatoes rating ahead of its cinema release.
Written by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, the film centres around two Mormon missionaries who attempt to convert a man (Grant), only for things to become a lot more dangerous than they expected.
The thriller also stars Yellowjackets actor Sophie Thatcher, The Fabelmans‘ Chloe East and That ’70s Show‘s Topher Grace.
Previews for the film begin today (October 31), before landing in UK cinemas on Friday (November 1). US viewers will be able to watch the horror from November 8.

Critics have praised Grant for his “amusing” and “skilful” portrayal of a deranged character, as well as the story’s “clever” blend of comedy and horror.
Here’s what some of the reviewers have been saying about Heretic:
“Suffice it to say that never has pondering theology been so devilishly entertaining.”
“Go with it, and Heretic can be an entertaining ride. It may not change your mind about religion, but you’ll never think of blueberry pie the same way again.”

“Heretic is a feast of comedy and horror that uses religion to drive home Mr Reed’s madness amongst a sea of psychological torture techniques. Grant is equal parts charming and dastardly, providing a villainous performance.”
“Even when the screenplay heads into deflating territory – trading potential acerbity for more neutral conclusions – their cat-and-mouse game keeps us curious and faithful.”
“It’s a recipe for setting an audience on edge, and the more it simmers, the more Heretic proves itself a compelling inventive thriller driven by three great central performances.”
“It’s a tremendously enjoyable type of horror, full of giggle-inducing jump scares, but sending you off with some intelligent questions to gnaw on.”
Heretic is set for UK and Ireland release on November 1, before landing in US cinemas on November 8.
