For those of you who have not yet voted, and especially those of you who are still trying to decide who to vote for or are wavering about your decision on who to vote for in the presidential election, please consider the following.
The details related to the candidates’ ideas and positions vary. In my opinion, both candidates are right on some issues and wrong on others. But, they have some very real and very different approaches on how our country should be run.
In my opinion, one candidate’s approach is that we should respect our laws, our judicial system and the tradition of following the courts’ decisions. We should respect our form of government, our fellow citizens, and our allies. And we should seek out and honor the truth, protect our nation’s and our allies’ military and intelligence secrets and conduct our nation’s business with dignity.
The other candidate seems to think (and there are many, many supporting examples} that our laws are meant to be circumvented, our judicial system is to be mocked and ignored, our form of government is to be twisted and violated and even discarded if it blocks their path. They appear to believe that our fellow citizens should be respected only if they agree with us, our allies treated as partners only if it is convenient (and cheap), and that our national military and intelligence secrets aren’t important. And they act as though the truth and dignity are not as important as promoting their opinion.
I feel strongly that the first approach is required to keep the United States strong and healthy, true to our principles, alive and well and improving and leading the world.
Please give it some thought. Thank you.
