Siemens AG has announced the sale of its Siemens Logistics division to Vanderlande, a logistics process automation firm owned by Toyota Industries. The deal, valued at $325 million, is set to close in 2025, pending regulatory approvals. This move helps Siemens simplify its business and focus on its core strength as a technology company.
Vanderlande specializes in automation solutions for warehousing, airports, and parcel sectors and aims to strengthen its position in airport logistics through this acquisition. Siemens Logistics is known for its expertise in baggage and cargo handling and for providing digital solutions that modernize airport operations. The acquisition will enhance Vanderlande’s technological offerings and expand its global service capabilities.
“Together with Vanderlande and our committed global teams, we look forward to bringing fresh impetus to the airport industry and to supporting our customers’ business with future-oriented technologies,” said Michael Schneider, CEO of Siemens Logistics.
Siemens Logistics highlighted that the merger would not disrupt ongoing or future projects but would provide opportunities for development and value to its clients and employees.
“Siemens Logistics’ innovative approach and robust business model align perfectly with Vanderlande’s vision for the future. Its forward-thinking and innovative mindset also proves its ability to adapt to changing market dynamics. Our customers will benefit from a broader range of solutions and services, enabling them to address their challenges more effectively,” said Andrew Manship, Vanderlande’s President & CEO.
“In Vanderlande, we have found the best future owner for our airport logistics business,” added Ralf P. Thomas, Chief Financial Officer of Siemens AG.
