The Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) recently unveiled three new initiatives during its Adventure Travel World Summit (ATWS) in Panama City. Each of the three initiatives is aimed at promoting sustainability and shaping the future of adventure travel. Aligned with this year’s summit theme of “Connection,” the new initiatives include: a new Membership Sustainability Commitment; a redesigned ATTA Membership HUB platform and mobile app; and a refresh of the current consumer-focused website.
Aiming to create the largest sustainable travel community across the globe, ATTA introduced its Membership Sustainability Commitment at this year’s ATWS. The program is designed to unite the adventure travel community by inviting members to make a formal commitment to sustainable practices. ATTA is urging members to demonstrate their sustainability efforts in one of three ways: through a third-party certification such as Travelife or B Corp; showing progress towards a certification; or participating in third-party sustainability assessments such as Nature Positive Tourism.
Using the framework, members are encouraged to share their sustainable practices, successes, challenges and best practices. ATTA will offer members a network of resources to help businesses and destinations achieve their sustainability goals including access to industry discussions, webinars and workshops on the redesigned HUB platform.
ATTA also launched a redesigned Member HUB platform and mobile app. Aligned with the theme of “Connection” and designed as an interactive online community platform, the HUB allows members to share news, host discussions, and network with other members, media and industry peers. Key features of the updated HUB include a redesigned interface, tools for easy navigation and enhanced functionality. The HUB will host “spaces” as well, which dive deeper into related topics in the adventure travel industry including Women in Adventure, Marketing and Technology & AI. The new HUB platform is available on web browser and a mobile app on the App Store and Google Play.
ATTA’s consumer-focused website, Adventure.Travel, was also refreshed based on member feedback. The transformed site will serve as a curated storytelling distribution platform where business members can share travel-focused content, destinations can showcase adventure activities and highlight local suppliers, and travelers can move to the travel planning phase with ease. With a larger goal of encouraging sustainable travel, ATTA aims to bridge the gap between travelers and ATTA’s global network of sustainable adventure businesses and destinations.
