Fact: E.T. is a Halloween movie. Make no mistake about that. The landmark Steven Spielberg blockbuster primarily takes place in October with the most iconic sequence — that being the moon-tinted bike ride, which has become the literal logo for Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment — goes down on All Hallow’s Eve. So, consider this episode a timely treat.

Aftermath in Ontario, California, Halloweenies executive producer Michael Roffman and Scare You to Sleep creator Shelby Scott presided over an E.T. reunion panel featuring stars Henry Thomas, Dee Wallace, Robert MacNaughton, C. Thomas Howell, and Matthew De Meritt. Together, they share personal anecdotes on the film’s shoot and reflect on the way the film went on to shape modern Americana — seemingly overnight.
