Tom Holland And Austin Butler Are Teaming Up For A Race Car Movie, And This Sounds Like A High-Octane Idea” target=”_self” data-before-rewrite-localise=”/movies/tom-holland-austin-butler-teaming-race-car-movie-american-speed

Tom Holland and Austin Butler are two of Hollywood’s brightest young stars, and the only thing bigger than a new movie starring one of them would be a new movie starring both of them. Not only are we now on track to get just that, but the film itself sounds quite exciting, as the pair are set to star as brothers who are also race car drivers.Amazon MGM Studios has picked up the new movie American Speed from producer Charles Roven. According to Deadline, the film is based on the story of the Whittington Brothers, three famous race car-driving brother. In the 1980s, two of them were involved in a scandal that resulted in charges of money laundering and drug smuggling as part of a scheme to finance their racing.Dan Wiedenhaupt, who previously penned the pre-historic “Boy and his dog” movie Alpha, is writing the screenplay. This certainly sounds like a compelling premise for a movie and with the movie starring two popular young stars there will surely be a lot of interested eyes on this one.Austin Butler And Tom Holland Are Two Stars In High DemandFollowing his Oscar nomination for Elvis Austin Butler’s star has continued to rise. He’s currently slated to appear in the new films from Ari Aster and Darren Aronofsky. He’s also been rumored for roles in major tentpole releases from the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie to the live-action Hercules from Disney. Even if those rumors don’t turn out to be true, the fact that Butler is being rumored for such high-profile roles shows just where he is in the eyes of Hollywood.Tom Holland’s career has never been stronger either. While he’s getting geared up to star in the upcoming Spider-Man 4, with Destin Daniel Cretton taking over directing duties from Jon Watts, he’s also set to star opposite Martt Damon in Christopher Nolan’s next movie. While Holland is still Spider-Man first in the eyes of pretty much everybody, he’s been able to avoid total typecasting and has found plenty of roles outside the world of superheroes.American Speed’s Theatrical ProspectsIt’s too early to tell if American Speed will receive a theatrical release or if it will be directed to streaming. Another Amazon MGM/Roven collaboration, Mercy starring Chris Pratt, is set for a theatrical release next summer. Amazon made the decision to release the Dwayne Johnson Christmas movie Red One in theaters, and in the same year it declined to give the Road House remake the same treatment, which brought the studio under fire by the film’s director.Certainly with two big stars like Butler and Holland, American Speed would be the sort of movie that demands a theatrical release. One piece of the puzzle that’s currently missing is a director, but with stars like this, there will probably be no shortage of interested parties.Your Daily Blend of Entertainment News

Not Only Did Moana 2 Filmmakers Listen To Cries For More Pua, They Also Got Me More Excited About The Adorable Pig’s Role In The Sequel” target=”_self”…

When Disney fans fell in love with Moana back in 2016, they also fell in love with the heroine’s animal sidekicks, Pua and Heihei. However, fans have agreed for years that Moana’s adorable pot-belly pig should have earned a spot on her adventure. With Moana 2 among 2024 movies hitting theaters soon, justice for Pua was apparently on the filmmakers’ list.CinemaBlend was invited to Walt Disney Animation studios to watch the first 30 minutes of Moana 2 and speak to the directors of the latest of upcoming Disney movies. During our chat with David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand and Dana Ledoux Miller (the latter also serving as co-writer with Jared Bush), they shared that they heard fans’ calls for more Pua and made sure it was part of the sequel. In Miller’s words:Look, people really wanted Pua in that first movie on the canoe. I wasn’t around, but we put Pua on the canoe now. And I will say Pua reached unexpected depths. He gets his own arc. So, it was really exciting to have him. I think that’s what’s so fun about making this film is that we take a lot of characters that we all really love and we take them to new places, Pua included. Yeah, literally and figuratively, I would say.Moana 2 has a new directorial team after John Musker and Ron Clements helmed the 2016 original, and they made a big effort to add Pua. While that was no surprise to me given the massive outcry for the cute character to have more screen time last time, I was surprised to hear Pua will also reach “unexpected depths.” What does that mean? Here’s how Miller expanded on her response:I think everyone in this film, Moana included, is really pushed to new limits, beyond sort of who they knew themselves to be, and that’s true for Pua. You know what I’ll even put out there that Hei Hei gets a little moment, not too much of a moment ’cause he’s still a dumb chicken, but this is a film about personal growth and connection and evolution of self. And so, you know, no one is left untouched by that. While I assume everyone’s wishes and expectations for Pua are to simply be more present in a Moana movie, making room for more cute moments from the pot-belly pig, I’m even more excited for the sequel now that I know they also found a way to bring Moana’s pet into the deeper themes of the film and grow with the other characters. I’m certainly intrigued about what they are referring to when it comes to Pua being on the adventure this time around, and how his arrival on the canoe will change Moana’s adventuring.Moana 2 will take place three years after the events of the first movie, and as you watch Pua in this new film, you might notice he has aged as well. Director David Derrick Jr. shared this about Pua’s new look:And if you look closely, Pua’s a little older, a little larger, He’s got a little baby tusk poking up. If you haven’t noticed from the new Moana 2 trailer yet, here are some visual development drawings of Pua from one of Walt Disney Animation’s artists that showcases how Pua looks now:(Image credit: Walt Disney Animation)Aww, see that cute little tooth? Walt Disney Animated movies are well known for their animal sidekicks, and now I’m intrigued about what these directors mean about what’s next for Pua. You can look forward to the Moana 2 release date on November 27.Your Daily Blend of Entertainment News

Marvin Agustin, Jolina Magdangal reuniting for new movie ‘Ex Ex Lovers’

Kristofer Purnell – Philstar.comNovember 2, 2024 | 6:32pm

MANILA, Philippines — Marvin Agustin and Jolina Magdangal, one of the most iconic Pinoy love teams from the ’90s, are headlining a movie for the first time in over two decades.

Film company Project 8 Projects confirmed the MarJo reunion movie “Ex Ex Lovers” with a video of the two actors embracing to recreate the posters of their previous movies  “Labs Kita… Okey Ka Lang?” and “Hey Babe!”

The last portion of the video saw Marvin and Jolina accompanied by director JP Habac, singer-actor Juan Karlos Labajo, and actress Loisa Andalio to recreate the poster for yet another film “FLAMES: The Movie.”

Juan Karlos and Loisa will join Marvin and Jolina in the cast under the direction of JP, whose past movies include “I’m Drunk I Love You” and “Love You Long Time.”

Following the video release, Marvin posted his own video from that shoot interlaced with scenes from his past projects with Jolina.

Marvin and Jolina also starred together in “Kung Ayaw Mo Huwag Mo” and “Gimik: The Reunion.” Marvin had a cameo in Jolina’s film “I.T.A.L.Y.” and a voice role in another movie of hers, “Momshies! Ang Soul Mo’y Akin!”

Both remained friends after Jolina married Rivermaya drummer Mark Escueta and Marvin became a chef and entrepreneur, all while doing acting stints.

A reunion movie had been announced in 2019 when Marvin and Jolina met with screenwriter-actor Bibeth Orteza and directors Antoinette Jadaone and Dan Villegas, but last year Jolina told Philstar.com they could not shoot because the pandemic got in the way and their schedules were busy at the time.

“Hopefully. Sana, sana talaga. Kasi hindi naman talaga siya sinarado na wala na eh. Kumbaga, kung minsan nagka-kamustahan pa rin na, ‘O basta magkakaroon tayo ng schedule ha.’ Excited kami doon,” Jolina said.
