He informed that the governorate is also planning 14 new projects valued at over RO13.4mn, anticipated to stimulate economic growth, create jobs and improve essential services.
The governorate’s development strategy, according to Sheikh Hajri, is based on leveraging Dakhliyah’s natural resources and cultural heritage. Among the prominent projects recently completed is the Nizwa entrance development, while Nizwa Public Park is ongoing. Other initiatives include the Jabal Akhdar Public Park, Dakhliyah Boulevard and the Jebel Shams Grand Canyon project.
In addition, an agreement has been signed to build Oman’s first integrated public transport station in Nizwa, a venture with a real estate developer. The Asalah project in Bahla is also expected to provide investment opportunities while boosting infrastructure for heritage tourism.
Efforts to elevate tourism focus on preserving historical sites, with projects such as restoring the wall of Harat al Aqar and paving paths in its vicinity. Tenders have been announced to develop Misfat al Abriyeen and Bahla Oasis. The governorate’s plans include seasonal tourism events, such as the Jabal Akhdar summer and winter festivals, and sports activities like the Hamam mountain running race and Samail Festival.
The governor noted that collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning is vital, with its support helping drive numerous projects, including the Greater Nizwa Master Plan. Key housing projects in the works include the mountain destination in Jabal Akhdar and Al Zain Fort in Bidbid.
