What’s up at The Book Store inside the Troy Public Library?
Iris Byrd, the Book Store Manager, smiles at the thought of “what’s up?”
Metal bookshelves have replaced the pressboard shelves that have served the Book Store until just last week. The new shelves will provide more shelf space and greater mobility for shoppers.
“We want to thank Mayor Jason A. Reeves and City Engineer Chuck Ingram for making it possible for the Book Store to have new shelving,” Byrd said. “We have needed more shelf space for some time now. And these, new metal shelves with will provide us with more shelf space. They will be much easier to maintain and are more durable.”
The Book Store has a large “following” of regular customers, from children to adults.
“We have books for all ages and all interests and at very affordable cost, usually books are 50 cents or a dollar,” Byrd said. “At times, we have collections of books donated, including National Geographic. The Book Store also has games, puzzles, CDs, Videos and more for purchase at very affordable prices. We recently had a collection of wood puzzles donated. You just never what the Book Store has to offer.”
Funds raised by the Book Store support activities, including the Summer Reading Program and other children and youth programs and needs at the Troy Public Library outside the library’s budget.
