CHAUTAUQUA — The Wednesday Travel League held its annual Halloween “Spooktacular” at Chautauqua Golf Club’s Hill Course.
Josh Hilliker won his sixth straight event with the low round of 74, matching the league course record jointly held by Dave Mathews and the late Ron “Moonie” Rys.
Jeff Nelson and Ed Tofil tied for second place with 85. Hilliker led both front and back nines with a pair of 37’s. Joe Woloszyn was the B Flight winner. In the C Flight, Gary Haase won on a tiebreaker over Bob Plummer and Mike Willoughby. The winner of the Bruce “Java” Chrabasz Commissioner’s Award was Jaime Galarza.
Untied birdies were recorded by: A Flight, Tofil (No. 3), Hilliker (Nos. 4, 5, 13), Dave Wallace (No. 7), Mick Dunning Sr. (No. 9), Frank Jagoda (No. 15) and Nelson (No. 18); B Flight, John Waterman (No. 1), Dave Criscione (No. 3), Pat Weaver (No. 7), Woloszyn (Nos. 11, 16) and Tom Sacilowski (No. 14); C Flight, Bob Kujawa (No.1), Tim Walawender (No. 8), Jack Hood (No. 9), and Plummer (No. 14).
Closest to the pin were Phil Hopkins (No. 2), Wallace (No. 7), Pete Pinkoski (No. 13) and Jagoda (No. 15). Winners of the steeplechase were Dunning (A Flight), Woloszyn (B) and Pinkoski (C).
Top point winners were Hilliker (56), Wallace and Jagoda (47 each), and Weaver (31). Season points leaders (through 32 events): 1. Hilliker (1,077), 2. Wallace(477), 3. Robert Calph (463), 4 .Pinkoski (425), 5. Haase (407), 6.Tofi (357), 7. Nelson (340), 8. Dave Franklin and Sacilowski (317 each) and 10. Tony Destro(257).
This week the league is playing Cassadaga Country Club with a 10 a.m. start.
