The Central Library of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) in Shillong is set to organize a two-day book fair on November 6-7, 2024, at the university’s Multi-Use Convention Hall. The event, inaugurated by NEHU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla, aims to bridge the gap between the academic community and leading publishers.
Seventeen participating publishers, distributors, and booksellers will showcase a diverse range of print and electronic publications. Faculty, students, and research scholars can explore, recommend, and purchase books relevant to their fields, supporting curricular updates aligned with the National Education Policy 2020.
Founded in 1973 with 600 books, NEHU’s Central Library has grown to house nearly 300,000 volumes and extensive e-resources, catering to both Shillong and Tura campuses. This book fair will further enhance the library’s collections through direct engagement between academics and publishers.
By facilitating access to up-to-date resources, NEHU’s book fair reinforces its commitment to academic excellence and supports the evolving needs of its users.
