Kathmandu, Nov. 6: Over 124,000 foreign tourists have entered Nepal in the month of October 2024.
According to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), a total of 124,393 tourists entered Nepal in the month of October, this year.
This is 6.04 per cent higher than the tourist arrival during the same month of last fiscal year 2023. But, it is only 92.76 per cent of the arrivals in the month of October 2019.
A total of 117,306 tourists had arrived in Nepal in the month of October 2023. Similarly, around 134,096 tourists had visited Nepal in the month of October in 2019.
About 941,000 tourists arrived in Nepal during the first 10 months since the beginning of the year 2024.
The highest number of tourists – 128,167 – entered Nepal in the month of March 2024.
Similarly, about 79,100 tourists came in Nepal in the month of January, 97,426 in February, 111,376 tourists in April, 90,211 in May, 76,736 in June and 64,600 in the month of July this year.
Likewise, around 72,719 tourists came in Nepal in the month of August and 96,305 tourists in the month of September 2024.
Top 10 tourist generating markets
The highest numbers of tourists arrived in Nepal from India in the month of October. Around 16,313 tourists have come from India while 16,023 tourists from United States of America and 8,019 tourists from United Kingdom have visited Nepal, according to the NTB.
Similarly, 7,750 tourists from China, 6,929 people from Australia, 6,018 people from Germany and 5,485 people from France visited the country.
A total of 4,476 tourists arrived from Bangladesh, 3,125 from Sri Lanka and 2,635 tourists from Italy have come to Nepal in the month of October this year.
The share of India in the total tourist arrival in the month of October is 13.11 per cent while the share of USA is 12.88 per cent, UK 6.45 per cent, China 6.23 per cent and Australia 5.57 per cent. Similarly, the share of Germany in the total tourist arrival in the month of October is 4.84 per cent, France 4.41 per cent, Bangladesh 3.60 per cent, Sri Lanka 2.51 per cent and Italy 2.12 per cent.
