Udupi, Nov 5: A new Kannada film, ‘Illa Sallada Bhaya Parikshe Bhaya’, directed by Dr V P D’Sa, was officially launched at the Poorna Prajna Auditorium, Udupi, on November 5. The movie is set to release soon.
Walter Nandalike, managing director of Daijiworld media, shared his personal experience with exam-related anxiety and said, “I feared exams until the 10th grade but eventually realized my passion lay elsewhere, not in academic scores above 90 percent. Those certificates did not come in handy, as I chose to pursue my passion instead.”
He further added, “If you want financial strength, go into business; if you seek power, choose government positions; but if happiness is your goal, follow your passion. I chose happiness and my passion. In today’s AI-driven world, success relies on smart work more than hard work. Never compare yourself to others; you can succeed at any age. Do not fear mistakes or asking questions, as both are steps toward achieving your dreams. Mistakes are part of nature; learning from them is culture, and avoiding them next time is progress.”
Dr P S Aithal, director of Poornaprajna Institute of Management, Udupi, highlighted the unique approach of launching the film before an audience of students. He said, “This movie release is special, as not only are the actors present here, but their teachers and role models are honoured as guests. Releasing the film in front of students emphasizes the educational theme. Exam fear often affects students who are barely passing, but here, students score 100 percent, so they do not face that fear. To overcome exam anxiety, view exams as opportunities. Good handwriting and impressive presentation can help in scoring full marks, so there is no need to fear exams. I believe this film will inspire students to achieve top marks. Vincent is a wonderful example of someone driven by a passion to help others.”
Ganapathi, DDPI, stressed the importance of confidence in overcoming academic anxiety and said, “Exams are one of the biggest fears students face. Just like watching a movie multiple times, using the same approach to read, repeat, and recall in studies will ensure nothing is forgotten during exams. Students work hard, but exam fear can undo all their efforts. Confidence is essential. Scoring lower is often due to low confidence or laziness, not a lack of intelligence. Embrace challenges and failures; they are steps toward success. Take every opportunity and keep moving toward your goals.”
Dr Ramu, principal of Poornaprajna College, expressed the institution’s interest in integrating film and media studies into their curriculum to foster students’ creative talents. “Our college is considering a certificate course in cinema-based education. We hope this project is the first of many to come,” he said.
Students who participated in the film were recognized with certificates.
Dr Vincent D’Sa, the director and writer of the movie, welcomed the gathering and introduced the film project and its objectives. Ashwini Naik, a student of Poornaprajna College, hosted the event.
Eliza Vaz, principal of Christ School Manipal; Pratima Baliga, principal of Poorna Prajna PU College; Eveline D’Sa, mother of VP D’Sa; faculty members, and students of Poornaprajna College were present on the occasion.
