The Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors has named Maura Ruby, general manager of the Danbury Fair Mall, as the chamber’s new president and CEO, according to an announcement.
Ruby, who is leaving her job at the mall, will succeed P.J. Prunty as leader of the business group.

Prunty is departing for a position as director of development for Bright Ravens Development LLC in Danbury.
During Prunty’s time at the chamber, he helped revitalize the group’s programming calendar and integrated it with the Newtown and Brookfield chambers, the announcement states.
Ruby has worked at the Danbury Fair Mall since 1993 and held roles in community engagement, operational management, leasing and asset oversight.
In her new role at the chamber, Ruby will use her local connections to strengthen the region’s economic landscape, board officials said.
“Maura brings extensive expertise in the business community and a keen understanding of the region’s economic and philanthropic backbone,” said board Chairman Martin Morgado, president and CEO of Savings Bank of Danbury. “Her network of relationships across legislative and municipal sectors will serve our members exceptionally well.”
Ruby previously served as vice chair of the chamber’s board.
The Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce consists of about 700 member businesses within a 10-town region.
