UK tourists heading to Greece for an upcoming UEFA Europa League match are being warned to ‘follow instructions’ while abroad. The Foreign Office has changed its travel advice for Greece in light of the clash between Olympiacos and Rangers.
British travellers going to Athens for the match should ‘plan their movements’ ahead of kick-off. They are also being advised to listen to any instructions handed out by local authorities.
Tourists should ‘take care’ of their possessions, the Foreign Office added. In an update published on November 6, the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) issued new information about UEFA Europa League.

It said: “Athens will host the UEFA Europa League on Thursday, November 7, between OLYMPIACOS and RANGERS FC. If you are travelling to Athens for the match, you should:
- Plan your movement around the city to arrive at the stadium well in advance of the match kick-off
- Follow the instructions of the local authorities
- Take care of your personal possessions including passports, especially in crowds and on public transport
