Representing the Hancock County Republican Women, Deb Roskamp presented the Mamie Eisenhower Library Project (MELP) book, “Hillbilly Elegy,” by J. D. Vance to Daniela Waltrip, the Warsaw Public Library’s head librarian, on Friday, Oct. 11.
Established in 1961, the MELP honors the former First Lady who coordinated more than 30 “moves” as a military wife during President Eisenhower’s service in the United States Army. The National Federation of Republican Women’s (NFRW) oldest program, the MELP has donated children’s and adult books to public schools, libraries, hospitals, and other public organizations for more than 60 years.
