Cragend Farm has been awarded a Bronze Green Tourism Award in its first year of assessment.
Cragend Farm has been awarded a Bronze Green Tourism Award in its first year of assessment. It can not gain a Gold Award immediately, but has to continue to be assessed for the next three years before it is awarded a Gold Award by year 3.
As a B&B and self catering business as well as a rare breed farm, eco credentials are vital to their way of life.
Funding for these awards for small business is invaluable as we would not have the resources financially to gain these awards without support from the LVEP, despite doing all the right things to gain the Gold award from the get-go.
Destination north East and Visit Northumberland have been funding this project to give local businesses the chance to show off their green credntials to visitors who come to Northumberland for a holiday.
Sustainable and regenerative practices are important for businesses for several reasons:
1. Environmental impact: By adopting sustainable practices, businesses can reduce their negative impact on the environment, such as reducing carbon emissions, minimizing waste generation, and conserving natural resources. This helps to try and protect the planet for future generations and ensures a healthy environment for all.
2. Cost savings: Implementing sustainable practices may lead to cost savings for businesses in the long run. For example, investing in energy-efficient technologies can reduce utility bills, while reducing waste can lower disposal costs. Additionally, sustainable practices can improve efficiency and productivity, leading to overall financial benefits for the business. We hope this to be true as an Award winner.
3. Brand reputation: Consumers seem to be increasingly conscious of the environmental and social impact of the products and services they purchase apparently. By adopting sustainable and regenerative practices, businesses can hope to improve their brand reputation and attract environmentally conscious customers who are willing to support businesses that prioritize sustainability such as Cragend Farm self-catering holidays and B&B.
4. Regulatory compliance: Governments around the world are now trying to implement regulations and policies to promote sustainability and reduce environmental impact. By adopting sustainable practices sooner rather than later, our business can ensure compliance with these regulations and avoid potential fines or penalties.
5. Long-term viability: Sustainable and regenerative practices may help to ensure the long-term viability and success of businesses. By operating in a way that is environmentally and socially responsible, our business can hopefully build resilience and adaptability in the face of changing market conditions and consumer preferences.
Overall, integrating sustainable and regenerative practices into business operations should not only be beneficial for the environment and society, but we hope that it will also help with the bottom line and long-term success of the business.
