LONDON: Represented by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, the Sultanate of Oman is actively participating in this major industry event, which will run for three days.
Heading Oman’s delegation is His Excellency Salem bin Mohammed Al Mahroqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, along with officials from the Ministry and representatives of 32 travel, tourism, and hotel institutions. Their mission is backed by strategic partners, all dedicated to strengthening Oman’s reputation as a top-tier travel destination.
The Sultanate’s participation underscores its recent tourism boom. In 2023, Oman saw close to 4 million tourists—up 36.7% from the previous year. The upward trend continued into the first half of 2024, with nearly two million arrivals, marking a 3.2% increase year-over-year.
His Excellency Al Mahroqi commented on the significance of Oman’s presence at WTM, saying it aligns with the Ministry’s strategic goals. “The Sultanate of Oman’s participation in the World Travel Market exhibition comes within the framework of the Ministry’s plans to enhance the Sultanate of Oman’s position as a leading tourist destination in the region, promote its natural tourism assets and ancient heritage, cooperate with international tourism companies, attract investments, establish new international partnerships, and conclude agreements to develop new projects that contribute to the development of the tourism sector, and ensure the provision of a unique tourism experience that meets the aspirations of travellers, which enhances the position of the Sultanate of Oman as an integrated and sustainable tourist destination,” he stated.
Oman’s pavilion has already attracted attention, hosting meetings with ministers and officials from various countries to discuss cooperation and investment opportunities.
