Muscat – Representing the Sultanate of Oman, Ministry of Heritage and Tourism is participating in World Travel Market (WTM) 2024 in London running till Thursday.
H E Salim bin Mohammed al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, who is leading the delegation, informed that the sultanate’s presence at WTM aligns with the ministry’s strategic goals of enhancing Oman’s status as a major regional tourist destination, promoting its rich natural and heritage assets, facilitating partnerships, attracting investments, and developing new tourism projects.
The Omani delegation includes ministry officials and representatives of 32 travel, tourism and hotel establishments that are supported by strategic partners committed to promoting Oman as a premier travel destination.
Oman is highlighting its tourism growth, with nearly 4mn tourists in 2023 – an increase of 36.7% over the previous year – and continued growth into 2024 as almost 2mn arrived in the first half, a 3.2% year-on-year rise.
H E Mahrouqi added that through participation in WTM, Oman aims to attract investments, establish new international partnerships and secure agreements that facilitate the development of new projects in the tourism sector. “These efforts are intended to provide a unique tourism experience that aligns with travellers’ expectations, reinforcing Oman’s position as an integrated and sustainable tourism destination.”
Oman’s pavilion hosted several meetings with ministers and officials of participating countries to enhance tourism cooperation, attract visitors and showcase investment opportunities in the sultanate’s tourism sector. The pavilion also engaged with prominent media representatives and showcased an array of new tourism initiatives and projects.
