Thailand will look at achieving £75.55 billion (3.4 trillion Baht) by 2025 in tourism, vowing to return as one of the premier destinations globally. “The tourism industry is not only an instrument for economic growth but it is also an engine of community upliftment and impact on millions of lives it touches,” Mr. Sorawong added. The “Ignite Thailand” vision was built around two key focus areas: well-being and community impact where Thailand’s tourism policies have to benefit visitors and communities.
The nation is also developing infrastructure upgrades, streamlining visa processes, and is a participant in the “Six Countries, One Destination” ASEAN travel network, among others. Recent steps taken by the nation include the resumption of British Airways flights to Thailand, promoting the country’s commitment towards connectivity and seamless travel.
Hidden gems and cultural richness
It focuses on lesser-known destinations like Nan, Phrae, and Sakon Nakhon, making travel options in Thailand diverse. Expansions in amusement parks, shopping centers, and entertainment venues are intended to appeal to a wider demographic. Efforts to preserve Thai traditions are reflected in the promotion of the “Five-Must Do” experiences: Must Taste, Must Try, Must Buy, Must Seek, and Must See—highlighting Thai cuisine, festivals, and scenic landscapes.
