The Simpsons has long been known for its uncanny ability to predict real-world events, and now the hit show appears to have done it again.
Fans of the long-running series have drawn eerie parallels between a 2000 episode and the 2024 US election results.

In a viral clip from the episode, Lisa Simpson is seen standing in front of a map of the United States, showing the states declared in favour of her and her opposing candidate.
Fans were quick to point out that the map looks almost identical to the one reflecting this year’s Democrat and Republican state wins.
“WTF SIMPSONS ARE FROM THE FUTURE THEY GOT LITERALLY THE EXACT MAP FROM THIS ELECTION,” one shocked fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter), sharing the image.
But while The Simpsons has had many spot-on predictions over the years, it appears to get one key element of this year’s election very wrong.
One tweet showing Lisa and Kamala side by side with the caption: “This is the first time The Simpsons was wrong,” has gone viral.
The show famously predicted Trump’s presidency in a 2000 episode—16 years before it became reality.
And just earlier this year, a disturbing fake image claiming to be from the show showed Trump in a coffin, with the words “R.I.P. Donald Trump, 1946 – 2024” on the casket.
The image circulated widely on social media before it was confirmed to be fake.
Longtime Simpsons executive producer Matt Selman was quick to shut down the rumours, telling fans the image was doctored.
“The image of Donald Trump in a coffin never appeared on The Simpsons. It is doctored,” he confirmed in a statement.
Selman, who has won six Emmys for his work on the series, told TMZ: “Anyone who thinks The Simpsons would include such horrifying content on a family TV show doesn’t really watch the show or have any understanding of The Simpsons at all.”
During Wednesday’s election, Trump took an early lead over Harris as the votes were counted, with many of the traditional Republican states on the east coast of the US turning red as expected.
But it came down to the crucial swing states in the end, and once North Carolina and Georgia fell to the Republicans, followed swiftly by all-important Pennsylvania, the result was set in stone.
